Interview: Alexa Villa Talks New Single ‘Call Me Crazy’
We had the pleasure of chatting with bubble rock/pop artist Alexa Villa about her new and hard hitting single “Call Me Crazy.” There are a lot of great sounds and elements in this track and you can listen to it below.
How excited are you to release “Call Me Crazy”?
AV: I’ve been out of this world excited to release Call Me Crazy. I wrote this song what feels like long ago and have been shaping up an entire EP in the meantime. This song is extra special to me because it feels like an honest storytelling of how I feel most of the time. Like I can be too much for most people and not enough for the rest. And somewhere along the way I wrote this song to say “whatever” about it all.
What exactly in your opinion is Bubble Rock?
AV: Bubble rock is a fusion of cotton candy sonic flavor, sugary sweet hefty guitars, and honest and delicate piano melodies blurring the line between pop and rock. I want bubble rock to move you and groove you and I want you to feel it in your chest when it hits.
When people listen to your music, what are you hoping they get out of it?
AV: I want people to walk away feeling empowered to conquer their fears and their dreams at the same time. I want people to feel proud of who they are and to never let anyone water them down.
Did you always know that music was something you wanted to pursue?
AV: Music has been my dream from day one. I am classically trained on piano from age seven and grew up in a musical family going to dive bars and playing in talent shows.
What do you think about a lot of the genre-bending happening now in music?
AV: I think it’s amazing. I think that with the accessibility we have these days to new sounds, new instruments, new DAWs, new plugins, genre bending was inevitable. I think people are so creative with their tools and are coming up with some really fun styles.
Who is Alexa Villa as an artist?
AV: I am an artist who believes in her listeners. I believe in love and people and God and I believe that music is healing and helpful in so many ways. I am someone who dedicates herself to her art and simply loves to share it.
